Tonsils

Morgan had her tonsils out on May 2nd and it has been a busy, rough two weeks since then.  We decided to have them out because she wasn't sleeping well, was snoring, and the tonsils were starting to affect her ears.  We didn't tell her until that morning what was happening because she gets pretty anxious about stuff and we didn't want her to worry.  That morning we told her and she obviously didn't understand until we got to the surgical center and they started to explain to us what was going to happen.  She started getting worried and when they wheeled her away, she tried to be brave until it was time for us to separate from her.  It was soooooooooooo sad and I felt so bad for her.  It was a good thing that Ted was there and was able to be strong because I had to turn away so that she didn't see me crying.  We went into the waiting room and I just kept crying (stupid hormones) and then a sweet nurse came in and told us that she did wonderful and had calmed down once she realized that gas wasn't going to hurt her.  This helped me immensely.  It's just so sad to see your child so scared and confused as to what is going on.  When we were able to see her again, we walked back to where she was laying in the bed and she was really, really, sleepy.  Once she saw me, she sat right up and reach out for me and I picked her up and she held on to me so tightly and wouldn't let go.  It made me feel so good, but it also made me feel sad for making her so scared.  She kept saying, "I'm mad.  My throat hurts and I was scared."  Broke my heart.  She was pretty nauseated and threw up, but once they gave her medicine for that, she perked right up and was as happy as can be.  She ate 2 or 3 popsicles while we were there and came home super happy.  She was outside playing that night (with me right by her side) on drugs and all.  Not a care in the world.  She did really really well over all, but it started to take a toll on all of us because she was hurting and tired and ornery for about a week and a half and it made for long days at home.  I think it was all worth it, though.  The doctor said her tonsils were huge and that her eardrums had both ruptured a couple of times.  This girl has a very high pain tolerance.

Morgan getting ready to go on a wagon ride with mommy
and daddy.  She was so anxious and she kept saying, "Let's
go for a ride." So we would wheel her around the surgical center.

Morgan getting a ride to the car.  She was
so nervous to get in the wheelchair because
she thought I would leave her again.

Waiting for daddy to pick us up.  Doesn't she look
amazingly chipper for just having surgery?
